JORDY TOWERS

BIO:

“If you ain’t coming with somethin’ new and you’re just trying to make money with music fuck you!! Give up or go down by the sword of the chosen ones.” “Music is my drug. As much as I want to touch the youth with positive messages and make the dudes mosh and the ladies dance, I strive to make music that my friends and me like.” “My music is therapy. When I’m stuck and have nothing, it seems all I have to do is put on an instrument and get lost in the music to find myself again.” “Who am I? I’m everything, the ying, the yang, the black, the white, the right, the wrong, etc. Like you, I change from day to day. Moody, happy, evil, pleasant, intelligent idiot/demonic saint. I’ve got it figured out and at the same time I’m confused. I believe we all are just most won’t admit it.” “I want to be recognized for my honesty. A lot of rappers in the game tell lies to sell records. I could not live with myself being fake on a record. I’d probably end up killing myself like Kurt Cobain or something. Another thing is that my people stay on my ass and would wop me up talking some bullshit.”

“I’m a wordplay cat and a singer. I beleive I’ve got a unique style and voice unlike any rapper to date. I also believe when it’s all said and done, I’ll be able to stand up with the greats of delivery and style (Eminem, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Twista). Singing? I don’t know, Robert Plant mixed with a little Stevie Wonder. Whatever.” “I want my music to be recognized for its originality and organic live spin mixed with programmed drums and sounds. I’m making HipHop but HopHop is a little bit of all music mixed together if you really look at it over the years. This record, “Whethaman” is a dedication to HipHop and all the music HipHop spawned from (Jazz, Rock, Reggae, R&B, Disco) you name it; it’s in there.”

“My name is Optmus, which came from optimist, a selfgiven name back in 1994. In 2002, after going to jail, I realized I wasn’t an optimist as I had strived to be, so I changed the spelling because I wanted to become the best ever, the cream of the crop, Optimus Prime.”

“I write about what I see, things I do and advice for people who need it, but most of all how I feel. I’m vulnerable. Most say rappers can’t be vulnerable but I am, everything gets to me and that’s what inspires me to rhyme.”

“Here is a small list of my biggest influences: Run DMC, Sublime, A Tribe Called Quest, Beastieboys, Nas, Rakim, Eminem, 2Pac, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Nirvana, No Doubt, The Fugees, just to name a few.” “One last thing, keep an open mind my people, the world is changing like your grandmama’s underpants, hopefully everyday!!! Peace and enjoy the album!!!”
