Young & Rich

Y&R was created as an alter-ego for Record Producer Cliff Bradley (aka Rich Bronson) and Recording Artist Justin Lanning (aka Johnny Young). In 2004 they both wrote 3 songs. They were quickly made into demos and forgotten about in 2 weeks. That was before the internet’s more powerful features of today. Back then, it was just Myspace and Friendster and they both sucked. Things are WAY better now with all the social media platforms. It was just time to re-record the songs with much better players and equipment. Plus Cliff had a record company and publishing company and funds to produce a really pro master quality recording. “We tracked Drums and Bass at Loki Sonic Studios in Burbank with Chris Wonger engineering. Matt Tecu played drums and Paul Ill played bass. They work really great together. The drum sound was phenomenal thanks to Chris Wonger’s stellar mic choices and placement as well as how Matt actually PLAYS. Makes a big difference how you hit the drums and tune them as well. Paul is just solid and great on all levels. The guitar was recorded at Cliff’s home studio in Los Angeles with Ricky Z playing rhythm and lead. Mixed and Mastered at Cliff’s studio by Matt LePoint from Mark of the Unicorn. Matt really came through on this project, its literally the best sounding music I’ve ever made in my 25 year career.” - Cliff Bradley

 

About Cliff Bradley (aka Rich Bronson)

 

Record Producer and master mind behind the Young & Rich Project, Cliff Bradley created the band for fun as a songwriting creative outlet primarily. However, there’s more to the story than that. Back in 2004, Cliff found Justin and brought him in for a writing session. Cliff was very impressed with Justin’s vocal and musician talent and wanted to see what would happen with a writing session. Very quickly, they both wrote three songs, and Cliff made demos and that was pretty much it. 12 years later, Cliff decided to re-record the three songs with great musicians and better technology and came up with the name Young & Rich. The name is a spoof on what people might think it means. Justin Lanning is young and Ciff is Rich (compared to 12 years ago). So Cliff came up with the alter egos: Johnny Young for Justin and Rich Bronson.

 

It has nothing to do with being young and rich, per se…although, with all jokes there is some truth behind it all.

 

About Justin Lanning (aka Johnny Young)

Music is Justin’s passion. He taught myself guitar when he was 10. I He didn’t stop there. He began writing songs and playing all of the band instruments: drums, bass, guitar, piano, percussion, harmonica & violin. Justin enjoy writing songs about his world and all the things that happen in it. His music is a direct reflection of who he am. “When I write, I go somewhere else, and I want to take people with me.” - Justin Lanning
